I would like to welcome you to the Staats Genealogy and History Site! It is the goal of this site to be the central, collaborative location for those who are researching, or simply interested in, the history and genealogy of any Staats family. My name is Sean Staats and I have been researching my family genealogy for 2 years now. During that time, I have found a lot of Staats-related genealogical information on the internet. Unfortunately, the information was from many, disparate websites, poorly organized and usually without sources of information being cited. One of the biggest rules in genealogy is that if you can't prove it, then it isn't true. This site serves a number of purposes:
Registered users will be able to publish and share their research as well as, among other things, create blog entries, upload photos, participate in discussion forums or even write a book on this site. This is a contribution-style website and the success of it depends on the participation of as many Staats researchers as possible. This includes participating in the genetic genealogy project as well as contributing source documentation and family lineage information to the site. Our intention is to make all information on this site freely available to the public while protecting the identities of those who are still alive. All privacy concerns, opinions and copyrights will be respected at all times. I hope that this site will help Staats genealogists learn more about their family roots, help those who have hit a brick wall in their research and discover our common ancestors. Working together, we'll be able to accomplish these goals and provide a more accurate and documented genealogical history of the Staats families for future generations.
